The Senate on Thursday voted to confirm Robert F Kennedy Jr to lead Health and Human Services.

"RFK Jr will almost certainly be the most consequential appointment Trump makes to his cabinet," Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie said Thursday in response to the news.

HHS has a budget of nearly $2 trillion and administers Medicare, Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act. HHS also oversees the CDC, FDA, NIH and around a dozen other agencies.

"For too long, Americans have been crushed by the industrial food complex and drug companies who have engaged in deception, misinformation, and disinformation when it comes to Public Health," Trump said when first announcing Kennedy's nomination.

"The Safety and Health of all Americans is the most important role of any Administration, and HHS will play a big role in helping ensure that everybody will be protected from harmful chemicals, pollutants, pesticides, pharmaceutical products, and food additives that have contributed to the overwhelming Health Crisis in this Country," he added.

"Mr. Kennedy will restore these Agencies to the traditions of Gold Standard Scientific Research, and beacons of Transparency, to end the Chronic Disease epidemic, and to Make America Great and Healthy Again!"

His confirmation was approved Thursday along party lines with Mitch McConnell the only "no" vote among Republicans.

Kennedy had a tough time getting through our corrupt Senate and appears to have made a lot of concessions.

From Fox News, "Senate confirms Robert F Kennedy Jr. to serve as Trump's Health secretary":
[Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La.] had emphasized during Kennedy's confirmation hearings that "your past of undermining confidence in vaccines with unfounded or misleading arguments concerns me," which left doubt about his support.

However, after speaking again with the nominee, Cassidy rattled off a long list of commitments Kennedy made to him, including quarterly hearings before the HELP Committee; meetings multiple times per month; that HELP Committee can choose representatives on boards or commissions reviewing vaccine safety; and a 30-day notice to the committee, plus a hearing, for any changes in vaccine safety reviews.

[...] Another Republican who was on the fence, Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, also voted to advance Kennedy's nomination.

Murkowski noted that she continues "to have concerns about Mr. Kennedy’s views on vaccines and his selective interpretation of scientific studies," but that the nominee "has made numerous commitments to me and my colleagues, promising to work with Congress to ensure public access to information and to base vaccine recommendations on data-driven, evidence-based, and medically sound research."
I've followed RFK's work for decades and though he's a mixed bag I look forward to seeing what he will do as Health Secretary.

This is undoubtedly a welcome change from Biden's HHS led by Xavier Baccera and "transgender" child sex change advocate Admiral "Rachel" Levine.

Hopefully, Kennedy will tackle the epidemic of scientific fraud being committed in this country.
