On June 3rd, 2011 Manchester, NH area-activists armed with cameras, two-way radios and police scanners patrolled the streets in four cars and MARV. Their mission - accountability, a trait that seemingly absent among the ranks of those working for the Manchester police department.
We know of at least one Chicago rapper who won't be getting an invite to the White House anytime soon.
Lupe Fiasco called out President Barack Obama this week, calling his fellow Chicagoan "the biggest terrorist." [...]
"My fight against terrorism, to me, the biggest terrorist is Obama in the United States of America. I'm trying to fight the terrorism that's actually causing the other forms of terrorism. You know, the root cause of terrorism is the stuff the U.S. go... (more)
In Washington DC, hundreds of people have been dancing at the Jefferson Memorial claiming they are exercising their first amendment rights. It comes after last week RT America host Adam Kokesh and four others were arrested by the police for dancing at the same spot.
A criminal gang kicked the freedom loving dancers out of the TJ Memorial, though seemingly no one was violently assaulted (because they complied with the criminal's threats).
Great video, it's on the front page of Reddit right now.
There's one common misconception in this video. Namely, war does not help our economy. War helps a few select cronies who are the recipients of corporate welfare, the rest of the economy, who is paying for the corporate welfare, gets completely destroyed.
The whole "conquest" model of economic growth is not accurate, wealth is created through trade and voluntarism, not war and theft, which only consumes and destroys wealth.
The part on Afghanistan producing +90% of the worlds heroin, it's actually worse than he says. Right before the US invaded Afghanistan opium production had tanked drastically due to the Taliban's theocratic dictatorship which eradicated the vast majority of opium production in Afghanistan, see this article from 2001 in the New York Times, "Taliban's Eradication of Poppies Is Convulsing Opium Market."
Here's another great article which details what happened post US invasion:
Implemented in 2000-2001, the Taliban's drug eradication program led to a 94 percent decline in opium cultivation. In 2001, according to UN figures, opium production had fallen to 185 tons. Immediately following the October 2001 US led invasion, production increased dramatically, regaining its historical levels. - Source
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is well known as an environmental advocate and attorney. Given his pro-environment position, it is quite unexpected to hear Kennedy advocate for free market capitalism in order to protect the environment.
If you ask many committed environmental folks, they would probably be anti-free market capitalism. If you ask many free market adherents, they would probably be anti-environmentalist.
However, the rather unique pro-free market, yet pro-e... (more)

It's the end of an era. The decade which opened with a ferocious attack in the United States of America, closes with the announcement of the death of its greatest and most conveniently disney-like villain, Usama Bin Laden. In a decade which has been dominated by the Empire Strikes Back, our affable and dextrous host Robert Foster invites us to scrutinise the events shr... (more)
Mr. Speaker, I rise to introduce legislation that allows the shipment and distribution of unpasteurized milk and milk products for human consumption across state lines. This legislation removes an unconstitutional restraint on farmers who wish to sell or otherwise distribute, and people who wish to consume, unpasteurized milk and milk products.
Hard as it is to believe, the federal government is actually spending time and money prosecuting small businesses for the "crime" of meeti... (more)
Mr. Speaker, I rise to introduce the Industrial Hemp Farming Act. The Industrial Hemp Farming Act requires the federal government to respect state laws allowing the growing of industrial hemp.
Nine States--Hawaii, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, Vermont, and West Virginia--allow industrial hemp production or research in accord with state laws. However, federal law is standing in the way of farmers in these states growing what may be a very profitable crop... (more)
One of Connecticut's most visible snow birds is on the cusp of heading south -- for good. [...]
"It's kind of like getting out of Dodge," Schiff said. "Basically, what they're saying is, `If you stay in Connecticut, you're going to get mugged. You're going to get raped.'" [...]
"I don't want to be held accountable like I'm a criminal," Schiff said. "If the state doesn't want people that work hard and take risks and employ a lot of people and make money, then why sta... (more)
I love this, we're planning our exodus to Florida as well. - Chris
