Minnesota Democratic Farmer Labor party Vice Chair Shivanthi Sathanandan, who campaigned on "dismantling the Minneapolis Police Department" during the 2020 George Floyd riots, was carjacked by a group of "young men" in her own driveway on Tuesday evening.
From The Post Millennial, "Vice chair of Minnesota Democrat Party who advocated for dismantling police gets violently beaten and carjacked":
Sathanandan said in a Facebook post that she suffered a broken leg, deep lacerations to her head, and cuts and bruises all over her body when four armed juveniles allegedly beat her to the ground in front of her children and then stole her vehicle in broad daylight, according to KSTP.
"But instead I'm here. To write this," she continued. "Look at my face. These criminals will not win. We need to take back our city. And this will not be the last you hear from me about this. Thank you to the incredible Minneapolis 4th Precinct Officers, Mayor Frey, Chief O'Hara, Paramedics, neighbors, friends and DFL family, who all came to our aide during this terrifying experience. I'm so grateful for this community that wraps us in love."Though Sathanandan wants to crack down on crime now that it effects her personally, she advocated for dismantling the Minneapolis Police Department just three years ago.
The DFL's party platform called for "community-based-violence intervenors and problem solvers to intercept violence and reduce interactions with law enforcement" as well as "co-responder form of policing that pairs officers with social workers when responding to crisis calls and welfare checks."
Hopefully the "young men" who attacked her get the counseling and reparations they need to stop committing crimes!
