Signs and Wonders
Karen KwiatkowskiApr 12
When the muffler fell off my 15-year-old Subaru Justy a few weeks ago, I started driving the good car to work. It has a radio. Oh, the wonderful things I am learning from Sean Hannity!

For one thing, the Iraq occupation is a success. Not a blazing success, but a damn fine thing. According to Sean, we are made noble by the experience, and the Iraqis have already become

Globalist Tag Team Doubles Up on Global Warming
Kurt NimmoApr 12
Have any doubt our “representatives” are on the same page? Well, consider the “smackdown” between former House speaker Newt Gingrich and Senator John F. Kerry of Massachusetts. During a Senate hearing room debate over “global warming,” the “conservative” Gingrich told the “liberal” Kerry he is all for “green conservatism,” in other words Gingrich has accepted the latest globalist plan to enslave billions of people—for ... Risky loans - alive and well
CNN/MoneyApr 12
NEW YORK (Money) -- Option ARMs remain an option. Despite problems in the mortgage market, brokers say lenders are still willing to make risky loans - including those that allow borrowers to make monthly payments that don't even cover the interest (so-called "option ARMs").

Also still widely available are "no-doc" loans, which require no income verification, and mortgages with no downpayment.

All of those loans fall into the so-called Alternative-A or Alt-A mortgag

Registry would treat gun owners like criminals
The Morning CallApr 12
If someone told you he had been forced to provide the Pennsylvania State Police with their fingerprints, photograph, Social Security number and a host of other personal information, you'd probably assume they were arrested and charged with a crime.

Well, that kind of police ''booking'' process could be in store for Pennsylvania's roughly 3 million firearms owners if gun-control advocates in Harrisburg have their way.

Last month, a group of six

Google Censors China Olympics Criticism
WebProNewsApr 12
The motto of next year’s Olympic games in China is “one world, one dream.” Online, the world is actually split up into several countries, each with their own limited view, made possible through national censorship of the web.

Human Rights Watch asks:

How will China’s pervasive censorship and control of domestic and international media and the Internet play out when thousands of international journalists descend on Beijing? How are the Olympic

“Of all the contrivances for cheating the laboring classes of mankind, none has been more effective than that which deludes them with paper money.” - Daniel Webster

The American people are in La-la land. If they had any idea of what the Federal Reserve was up to, they’d be out on the streets waving fists and pitchforks. Instead, they go about our business like nothing is wrong.

Are we really that stupid?

What is it that people

Death from Above
Mickey Z.Apr 11
I find it virtually impossible to avoid analysis of the omnipresent "support the troops" concept. The latest opportunity presented itself as I walked through a parking lot in suburban Texas. On the rear window of a pick up, I saw a decal that read: "Death from Above." Translation: The truck owner (or someone the truck owner knows) is affiliated with some sort of airborne military unit. To them, "Death from Above" is a source of martial pride and patriotic passion.

In reality, "Dea

6-Year-Olds Under Arrest
Welcome to PottersvilleApr 11
When 6-year-old Desre’e Watson threw a tantrum in her kindergarten class a couple of weeks ago she could not have known that the full force of the law would be brought down on her and that she would be carted off by the police as a felon.

But that’s what happened in this small, backward city in central Florida. According to the authorities, there were no other options.

“The student became violent,” said Frank Mercurio, the no-nonsense chief o

Feeding the American Dream Into That Grinder
Tom ChartierApr 11
In December of 2003, as Bush’s invasion of Iraq plunged into its eighth disastrous month, the punk band in which I played lead guitar went on a last-gasp tour. I was leaving The Rotters maybe forever and departing the U.S.… probably for the rest of my life. Fact is, it was a sad time.

The Rotters had a Saturday night gig in San Diego. Rather than sleep on someone’s floor, we splurged on mo

The Federal Reserve Monopoly Over Money
Rep. Ron PaulApr 11
Recently I had the opportunity to question Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke when he appeared before the congressional Joint Economic committee. The topic that morning was the state of the American economy, and many of my colleagues raised questions about how the Fed might better "regulate" things to ease fears of an economic downturn. The tenor of my colleagues' questions suggested that Mr. Bernanke's job is nothing less than to run the ... (more)

Misunderestimated: Bush Almost Blows Himself Up
The Detriot NewsApr 11
Credit Ford Motor Co. CEO Alan Mulally with saving the leader of the free world from self-immolation.

Mulally told journalists at the New York auto show that he intervened to prevent President Bush from plugging an electrical cord into the hydrogen tank of Ford's hydrogen-electric plug-in hybrid at the White House last week. Ford wanted to give the Commander-in-Chief an actual demonstration of the innovative vehicle, so the automaker arranged for an electrica

A 23-year-old Carleton University master's student is outraged and demanding an apology from Georgia officials after spending more than 11 uncomfortable hours in a detention centre for running a stop sign and speeding.

Cheryl Kuehn said she was fingerprinted and had her mugshot taken before being forced to strip naked and shower, don a navy blue jail outfit and sleep in a cell with two other women while other inmates jeered and leered at her from adjoining cells.

U.S.-Made Mess in Somalia
Consortium NewsApr 11
The media often report overseas developments, but don’t always explore their underlying causes, which, in many cases, conveniently lets the U.S. government off the hook. The recent internecine violence in Somalia provides a classic example.

The U.S. media have focused to date almost exclusively on the rising Islamist movement in Somalia and U.S. “covert” assistance to the Ethiopian invasion that supported Somalia’s transitional government against the stron
