"Congressman Jefferson is accused of soliciting hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes for himself and his family, even under the Capitol dome," Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL) noted in the House Republican... (more)

The testimony by Staff Sgt. Justin Laughner, taken under a grant of immunity, is the first evidence suggesting that any Marine officer may have engaged in a coverup in the deaths of 24 Iraqi civilians in 2005.

The Real Reason for Bush's Invasion of Iraq Is a National Security Secret American soldiers have been fighting and dying in Iraq since 2003, and Americans do not know why.
All the reasons President Bush gave us for his war are false. Bush said he invaded Iraq "to disarm Iraq of weapons of mass destruction, to end Saddam Hussein’s support for terrorism, and to free the Iraqi people."
We now know that these were false claims. Disinformation about Iraq was produced ... (more)

Riley related in a video blog late yesterday how he had unwit... (more)

New Hampshire Backs Real ID Ban CONCORD, N.H. -- Calling the federal Real ID Act "repugnant" to the state and federal constitutions, New Hampshire lawmakers have voted to join other states in rejecting the federal Real ID Act as tantamount to requiring a national ID card.
The House voted Thursday to send a bill to Gov. John Lynch that would bar the state from complying with the federal law, which sets standards for state-issued driver's licenses. Lynch's spokesman said Friday the governor will sign it.

The end of the plug? Scientists invent wireless device that beams electricity through your homeScientists have sounded the death knell for the plug and power lead.
In a breakthrough that sounds like something out of Star Trek, they have discovered a way of 'beaming' power across a room into a light bulb, mobile phone or laptop computer without wires or cables.
In the first successful trial of its kind, the team was able to illuminate a 60-watt light bulb 7ft away.
The team from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who call their invention 'W... (more)

On the Care and Feeding of Humans Like my fellow anarchists, I bristle at the notion of the coercive state. But there is no state, really, just people. So in my quiet, reflective moments, I must ask myself whether or not I am doing better than the average untamed bureaucrat. Do I resist using the power over others that is available for the taking in my relationships, especially parenting? It is the question that must be asked in order for the anarchist life view to have integrity and ring true.

The JFK Pipeline "Plot";: Another "Chilling" Example of Political and Media Hyperbole The JFK pipeline plot appears to be the work of yet another gang that couldn't jihad straight.
Its ring leader made a living exporting broken air-conditioner parts to Guyana. Talk about your boom market! Where can I buy stock? There was no set plan. There was no financing. They didn't have any explosives -- and yet government officials were quoted calling the amorphous plot "one of the most chilling plots imaginable" that almost "resulted in unfathoma... (more)

Six human rights groups(HRG) today (June 6) named for the first time 39 more kidnap (they call them ‘disappeared’) victims of the Bush administration. Not only have Mr. Bush’s apparatchiks dumped the terrorist suspects in secret prisons but they abducted some of their wives and children, too.

Korean ‘model’ for IraqHmm! It’s just as those of us who were against the invasion of Iraq from day one suspected all along. The US has no intention of relinquishing its hold over Iraq. All the talk about withdrawal at some time in the nonspecified future is showcasing. Drawdown, yes; complete pullout, certainly no.
Until recently, the Bush administration has consistently protested it has no long-term ambitions in Iraq once a democratically-elected government is in place and is equipped to handle ... (more)

Suddenly, the Paranoids Don't Seem So Paranoid Anymore Have you noticed? We've become a people that no longer respects, or apparently desires, privacy. Our own or anybody else's.
That's a remarkable thing, when you stop to think about it. We Americans, historically, have fiercely guarded our personal privacy. It's one of our defining characteristics. Others, who live in societies where personal privacy isn't so easily taken for granted, have looked on with a mixture of admiration and bemusement. "Mind your own ... (more)
