The State owns among its characteristics a hypocrisy as stunning, fatal, and over-the-top as its double standards. And both are on horrific display in New Jersey this week.
We first survey the trial of Dharun Ravi, formerly a freshman at Rutgers University. This week Our Rulers continued savaging him, as they have for the past 18 months, because his roommate committed suicide. Yes, in defiance of all justice and common sense, the socialist State now holds us responsi... (more)
After being cited in a Bloomberg article about the impact of falling Wall Street bonuses, Andrew Schiff is feeling the heat from Americans outraged that someone (anyone) who makes $350,000 a year could complain about their lot in life. The story has gone viral, sparked a boatload of copycat pieces and blogs, most of them highly critical of Schiff, who says he's receiv... (more)
Peter Schiff's brother is being vilified because he dared to complain about the skyrocketing cost of living in the US.
CHICAGO (CN) - A family claims Chicago police broke into their house, urinated on their mail, spit in the coffee maker, stomped and slapped them and told them "You've been punk'd," while searching for someone who had not lived there for at least a year.
South Side residents Estella Walker, Ray Robinson Sr., Ray Robinson Jr., George Graham and Cornelius Burns sued the City of Chicago, Officer Sergio Martinez, and other unnamed officers in the Federal Court. Walker is Robinson ... (more)

A shocking video has appeared on the Internet showing Libyan rebels torturing a group of black Africans. People with their hands bound are shown being locked in a zoo-like cage and forced to eat the old Libyan flag. "Eat the flag, you dog. Patience you dog, patience. God is Great," screams a voice off-camera.
The Mexican legislature today adopted a surveillance legislation that will grant the police warrantless access to real time user location data. The bill was adopted almost unanimously with 315 votes in favor, 6 against, and 7 abstentions. It has been sent to the President for his approval.
You have probably seen Peter Schiff on television, not once, but many times. Among the legions of indistinguishable talking heads out there, he stands out. He makes sense. He draws attention to reality. He is disregarding of the opinions and conventions that prevail on the financial news networks and just comes right out and says what few others are willing to say.
He gets away with it because he makes sense, is super articulate and is aggressive in getting his message out. Even i... (more)
I've been looking at getting Irish citizenship the last few days, if your grandfather was an Irish citizen, it seems like it's rather easy, supposedly it is similar for Italians. I'm still looking into the implications, IE do you have to do jury service, is there any taxes involved if you live out of state, etc. Also, they say you need your grandfather's birth certificate, hopefully they have it on record because I do not. Supposedly Irish/Italian citizenship through descent is the holy grail of citizenship, in that it only costs a few hundred bucks vs thousands and costly 'proof of residency' requirements elsewhere. - Chris, InfoLib
Good reporting by Lucy Steigerwald on an outrageous 13-man SWAT raid, with flashbangs, on a home suspected of illegally growing medical marijuana. It’s of course legal to grow the stuff in Colorado if you have a patient card and stay under the state limit. The residents appear to have received the full brunt force of the SWAT team because they dared to exercise their constitutional rights. ... (more)
Ronald Reagan once famously declared that inflation is a tax, but sadly most Americans did not really grasp what he was talking about. If the American people truly understood what inflation was doing to them, they would be screaming bloody murder about monetary policy. Inflation is an especially insidious tax because it is not just a tax on your income for one year. It is a continual tax on every single dollar that you ow... (more)
Well, we saw this one coming a mile away. Last week, in talking about the current fight in the Senate over the new cybersecurity legislation that's making the rounds, we noted that the behind-the-scenes story appeared to be that the NSA was going to make a power play to try to get responsibility for cybersecurity handed to it, rather than Homeland Security.... If we can believe Stratfor emails hacked by Wikileaks, Israeli commandos and covert operations have decimated Iran’s nuclear program, so there is no need for an attack.
One email out a momentous five million mentions a comment made by Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak, who praised a deadly munitions explosion at a mili... (more)
CHICAGO (CN) - A waitress viciously beaten by a Chicago cop on camera convinced a federal judge to uphold her claim that the police department orchestrated a coverup.
Anthony Abbate Jr., an off-duty Chicago police officer, brutally attacked Karolina Obrycka in 2007, while she was bartending at Jesse's Shortstop Inn.
After Abbate drank heavily all night, repeatedly flexed his biceps and yelled "Chicago Police Department," Obrycka refused to serve Abbate m... (more)
This is the real issue. The closure of Megaupload is the equivalent of the government shutting down Henry Ford for producing cars because it's forcing the horse and buggy industry to adapt. - Chris
FORT WORTH -- With his uniform and police badge, Daniel Lopez had the tools to find his victims.
Investigators say the Fort Worth officer "cased" several women he had detained, checking their records and asking questions for hints of vulnerabilities that he could exploit to get them into his patrol car and, ultimately, to perform sex acts.
"He would profile them to see if they had something in their background or something he could use to manipulate them to get them... (more)

BRIGHAM CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A former Box Elder County Sheriff's Office deputy has been charged for performing an inappropriate strip search of an 17-year-old girl he had taken to his patrol car for questioning.
