![]() PLANES suspected of taking CIA detainees on "rendition" flights landed in Britain, the Government finally admitted yesterday. Two jets landed 14 times at Northolt and Brize Norton RAF bases in 2003 and 2004, said Armed Forces Minister Adam Ingram. Ministers had refused to give detailed answers about flights thought to be used for "extraordinary rendition" - taking detainees to secret camps where they might be tortured. Mr Ingram told of the flights in a letter to Lib Dem leader Sir Menzies Campbell but would not reveal their purpose. But they are known to have been chartered by the CIA. |
