People are falsely claiming he's against Ukraine but that's not true -- he has simply put out some mild anti-Ukraine rhetoric.
Jewish Insider reported in May that Vance was "putting a pro-Israel spin" on the "America First" world view.
From today in the Jewish Daily Forward, "What a JD Vance vice presidency would mean for American Jews and Israel": Vance has said that antisemitism must be prosecuted. “If you beat up a Jew and don’t face consequences, the attacks will continue and get worse,” he said in an interview with The Jerusalem Post in 2022.Vance is clearly a savvy political actor and perhaps he is the best out of Trump's lackluster VP list. Jewish Insider reported earlier this month that Doug Burgum was the "favorite of pro-Israel Republicans." I'm not expecting much either way. My main fear of a Trump presidency is that Bill Ackman's "friends" will staff his administration, he'll back Israel to the hilt and go to war with Iran just because Miriam Adelson is dumping $100 million into his campaign.
That said, perhaps there's a chance that if Trump's poll numbers surge and he doesn't need tons of money from the Israel Lobby to get elected he may have a bit of independence. I don't think it's likely -- it didn't happen during his first term when he relied on the Lobby far less -- but it's possible. UPDATE: There it is.
