![]() ![]() "Do you think Ashli Babbitt was murdered or do you think the police officer who shot her was doing his job?" was asked by a reporter during a press conference at the Capitol. "I think the police officer did his job," McCarthy responded.
Babbitt's killer, Capitol Police officer Lt Michael Byrd, claimed in his first public interview months after the shooting that he was the victim of "racism" and showed "the utmost courage" and saved "countless lives" by shooting the unarmed 5'2", 118 lbs Babbitt. ![]() Byrd was exonerated by Merrick Garland's corrupt DOJ without so much as an interview. Though most Republicans view Babbitt as the victim of a trigger-happy coward, Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) said he took Byrd into his bosom after the shooting and "gave him a hug" and told him, "Sir, you did what you had to do."
Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND) similarly said how "grateful" he was to the coward cop who shot her for "not complying." Senator Lindsey Graham on Jan 6th called on Capitol police to shoot and kill the Trump supporters who entered the Capitol building, screaming at the Senate sergeant-in-arms: "What are you doing? Take back the Senate! You've got guns. Use them!" Byrd was the only cop that day who felt it necessary to use deadly force and his victim was an unarmed woman and Air Force veteran who posed him no threat.
