'We Will Never Forget Who Bombed Our Embassy in Yugoslavia': China Pushes Back Against NATO's Moralizing On Ukraine

China responded to NATO's demand that they condemn Russia's "brutal invasion" in Ukraine by saying they'll "never forget" NATO's deadly bombing of their embassy in Yugoslavia in 1999 and they don't need a "lecture on justice" from an "abuser of international law."

"Chinese people can fully relate to the pains and sufferings of other countries because we will never forget who had bombed our embassy in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia," China's diplomatic mission in the EU said in a statement on Thursday. "We need no lecture on justice from the abuser of international law. As a Cold War remnant and the world’s largest military alliance, NATO continues to expand its geographical scope and range of operations. What kind of role it has played in world peace and stability? NATO needs to have good reflection."

Chinese people can fully relate to the pains and sufferings of other countries because we will never forget who bombed our embassy in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, spokesperson of the Chinese Mission to the EU said in response to remarks of NATO leaders on China.

The spokesperson said China doesn't need a lecture on justice from the abuser of international law. As a Cold War remnant and the worlds largest military alliance, NATO continues to expand its geographical scope and range of operations. What kind of role has it played in world peace and stability? NATO needs to have a good reflection, the spokesperson said.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that any support to Russia, military or any other type of support, would actually help Russia conduct a brutal war against an independent sovereign nation, Ukraine, and help them to continue to wage war which is causing death, suffering and an enormous amount of destruction.

Over two decades ago, former Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan said during a visit to the site of NATO's bombing, "This we cannot forget. This is the building which will always stay in the memory of every Chinese citizen."

NATO's bombing killed three Chinese nationals and injured at least 20. China condemned the attack at the time as a "barbarian act."
