Philadelphia police were taunted, shoved and had objects thrown at them by local residents in the midst of an 8-hour standoff on Wednesday where six police officers were shot. "I mentioned this at 10 and since I was harassed during that live shot, I’ll mention it here too," Philadelphia's KYW-TV reporter Alexandria Hoff said Wednesday night on Twitter. "A major moment of disappointment this evening was watching a crowd of people taunt police officers, laughing and yelling at them in the midst of the gunfire."
As cops are filmed trying to make their way through a crowd, a female resident is seen shoving an officer from behind as another calls him a "b*tch ass n***a." Scuffles break out between the two camps and objects are seen being thrown at police. Some residents are also seen aggressively bowing up to police.
The shooter was identified as 36-year-old Maurice Hill. Hill surrendered shortly after midnight, WPVI reported.
