Mark 'Appalachian Trail' Sanford Says Stormy Daniels Allegations 'Deeply Troubling'

Rep. Mark Sanford (R-S.C.) said on Wednesday that allegations President Trump had an affair with adult-film actress Stormy Daniels were "deeply troubling."

Sanford also suggested Republicans would respond differently to the claims if they involved a Democratic president, according to The Washington Post's Erica Werner, who posted Sanford's comments on Twitter.

"I believe that we need to recognize that everybody makes mistakes," Sanford said. "That having been said what we can't do in the body politic is whitewash the past or be purely tribal in our thinking."
