President Trump mocked Alec Baldwin Friday on Twitter for his "terrible impersonation" of him on SNL and said Darrell Hammond should be brought back because he's "funnier and a far greater talent!" "Alec Baldwin, whose dying mediocre career was saved by his terrible impersonation of me on SNL, now says playing me was agony. Alec, it was agony for those who were forced to watch. Bring back Darrell Hammond, funnier and a far greater talent!" Trump tweeted.
Hammond's likely not coming back because he was psychologically destroyed after losing the part to Baldwin as The Washington Post revealed in 2017: After being informed he was being replaced, Hammond said, "I just started crying." "In front of everyone. I couldn't believe it," he said. "I was in shock, and I stayed in shock for a long time. Everything wiped out. The brand, me, what I do. Corporate appearances canceled. It was a hell of a shock, and all of it was apparent to me in one breath. That ends me." "I couldn't get on an elevator, couldn't walk through a lobby, couldn’t turn on a television, couldn't walk down Broadway, couldn't go to my favorite diner, couldn't go anywhere," Hammond told the Post. "People would literally pull up in their cars on the way to Lincoln Tunnel to say: 'What the hell happened? What in the world? Are you okay?' Like, 'Why would you give that job up?'" He says he even started "cutting" like some 14-year-old girl. It's a wild story considering he's actually hilarious in those old clips compared to the total hack Baldwin. Also, his impression wasn't mean-spirited. That said, you shouldn't feel too bad about it as that all changed when the election came around and he went into "Blumpf is an evil racist" mode, probably due to demands from Weinstein pal Lorne Michaels. This SNL opening from March 6, 2016 is so painful to watch it makes me understand why he took up cutting! Follow InformationLiberation on Twitter, Facebook and Gab. |
