![]() DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- A police officer is off the job for 10 days because he used his police credentials to park in a handicap spot while visiting Disney's Wide World of Sports in May, officials from the Daytona Beach Police Department said. WESH 2 News broke the story when a citizen sent photos of Lieutenant Major Garvin's city vehicle, with his Police ID in the windshield, parked there. The chief of police, Mike Chitwood, said Garvin abused his position and immediately took his take-home vehicle away. Now, Garvin will be off the job without pay -- though he can appeal. Garvin was fired in 2008 for accusations of demanding free lattes at a beachside Starbucks. An arbitrator later ordered him back to work. |
