 CHICAGO, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- A man shocked twice with a Taser by Chicago police after allegedly resisting arrest died shortly after he was subdued, authorities said. Authorities said the unidentified 42-year-old man was pronounced dead at a hospital after police officers used pepper spray and a Taser gun on him twice, the Chicago Tribune reported Sunday. Chicago Police Department spokeswoman Monique Bond said that when police responded to a call Saturday afternoon, the man resisted arrest and they were forced to use the incapacitating weapons. The first electric shock failed to incapacitate the man, Bond added, forcing the officers to use it a second time along with pepper spray. Bond said that the man, who was being arrested for criminal damage to property, was taken to nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Tribune said an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
