![]() TORONTO/AM640 TORONTO - Health officials now say legionnaires' disease is the likely cause of a deadly outbreak at a Toronto seniors' home. Legionnaires' disease is a type of pneumonia that usually affects elderly people with respiratory problems. Sixteen people have died, although there are no new deaths and no new cases in the past three days. Toronto Medical Officer of Health Dr. David McKeown says autopsies done on three of the residents of the Seven Oaks Home for the Aged showed the presence of the bacteria that causes Legionnaires. |
