![]() A Belgian historian, Siegfried Verbeke, who denies that the Holocaust ever happened, has been put behind bars. According to "Flandersnews" website Wednesday, Verbeke was detained by police in the city of Kortrijk and taken to jail. Verbeke was sentenced to one year's imprisonment and fined 2,500 euros by the Court of Appeals in Antwerp for distribution of literature denying the Holocaust last year. Verbeke, who runs a website on Holocaust denial, was also wanted by judicial authorities in Germany for the same reason. He was arrested by Dutch authorities in Amsterdam in November last year and handed over to Germany, where he spent nine months in custody. Verbeke was eventually granted bail and he returned to Belgium. |
