![]() For the first time, Pakistani President Pervez Musharaff has revealed that his government may know the general whereabouts of Osama bin Laden. Speaking at a meeting in New York earlier this week, Musharaff conceded that bin Laden may well be in his country, according to people who heard his comments. "We believe he is somewhere between Bajaur, Pakistan, and the province of Kunar in Afghanistan," he said at a meeting connected to his appearance at the United Nations. As recently as last week, Pakistani government spokespeople had said bin Laden's whereabouts were a complete mystery. The area described by Musharaff is a mountainous region north of the Pakistani city of Peshawar. Musharaff told the New York audience that bin Laden "could be in either Pakistan or Afghanistan." |
