Sep. 16, 2005

SEPTEMBER 16, 2005 - New York -- Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC) and the Jewelers Board of Trade (JBT) will present the seminar "How to Comply with Anti-Money Laundering Regulations" on Sept. 22 at JBT's Warwick, R.I., headquarters. The seminar is free, but space is limited.

Topics will include what types of businesses must comply, how to develop effective anti-money laundering programs (AML) and the range of products and services created by JVC and JBT to assist jewelers in creating compliance programs. Jan. 1, 2006, is the deadline for jewelers to have AML programs in place.

JVC President and CEO Cecilia Gardner and JBT President Dione Kenyon will detail how their organizations can aid jewelers who must bring their businesses into compliance with AML requirements.

An agent from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's ICE/Anti-Money Laundering Unit for the New England region will also be on hand to address particular concerns of jewelers as they begin to institute the policies in their operations.

Through its PATRIOT Act Compliance Kit, JVC has developed a practical resource to assist in compliance with the requirements. JBT is pleased to partner with JVC and other industry association peers to offer the kit at a 15 percent discount for members in good standing"
