Ahmadinejad Condemns West for Supporting Saddam's Chemical Attacks on Iran

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Wednesday condemned occupiers of Iraq for having assisted the former Iraqi dictator in launching chemical attacks on Iran during the 8-year Iraqi war imposed on Iran.

In a message to commemorate the 19th anniversary of the victims of Sardasht Catastrophe, when tens of innocent women, men and children were massacred by the chemical bombs dropped by the Ba'thist army in 1987, President Ahmadinejad described occupiers of Iraq responsible for the present pains, sufferings and problems of the people of that country and further stressed, "Those who have occupied Iraq on the pretext of fighting Saddam's tyrannical regime, are the same culprits who provided the former Iraqi dictator with chemical bombs and were, thus, Saddam's accomplice in the chemical manslaughter of the Iranians, but they have unfortunately veiled their crimes with the help of the international media that they dominate."

Ahmadinejad viewed the ceremony held on the occasion a proper opportunity for unveiling historical facts to the public opinion, and also asked for a serious follow up on the catastrophe in a bid to inform the world of the various aspects of the said grave crime and prevent re-occurrence of similar catastrophes in future.

The chief executive official stressed that crimes committed by man all result from his abstinence from monotheism and justice-seeking spirit, and further expressed hope that human problems and hardships would minimize once monotheism, affection and justice prevail in the world.
