![]() "We are sorry for the embarrassment that was brought upon Huntsville High and the community". Notice how there is no apology to the homeless vet.Students involved in High School prank will soon learn punishment WAFF 48 There are often harsh realities associated with high school. Bullies, the pressures of fitting in, high school pranks. And a prank at Huntsville High involved a homeless man stripping and standing in the hallway while students changed classes. School officials say four members of Huntsville High School's senior class were behind a prank. The homeless man involved is believed to be mentally ill. Everyone we talked to had strong opinions on the punishment. "Their graduation shouldn't be necessarily withheld but I think their parents should be involved in making a decision with the school system," says Kevin Jefferson. "They're just kids, just a slap on wrist and say you'll be 18 next week grow up and don't do it again, they didn't really hold the guy at gunpoint," says Chris Brightwell. "I don't think they should be expelled or not be allowed to walk at graduate but they should be punished because what they did was wrong," says Haley Gullahorn. "I wouldn't let them walk. I would not let them have the priveledge to walk across the stage after what they've done," Ron Steadman argues. "Children are children but 18 years old you know what you're doing and to do something like that to a handicapped person is wrong they shouldn't get away with it they should get punished for it," says Sandy Myers. One of the students involved emailed our newsroom to share his side. He says, "We regret that we even came up with the idea. We are sorry for the embarrassment that was brought upon Huntsville High and the community." |
