Air travelers, mark your calendar. An activist opposed to the new invasive body scanners in use at airports around the country just designated Wednesday, Nov. 24 as a National Opt-Out Day. He’s encouraging airline passengers to decline the TSA’s technological strip searches en masse on that day as a protest against the scanners, as well as the new “enhanced pat-downs” inflicted on refuseniks.
“The goal of National Opt-Out Day is to send a message to o... (more)
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Ben Bernanke has had his hands full since his first day on the job as Federal Reserve chairman nearly five years ago. It's about to get even tougher.
His harshest critic on Capitol Hill, Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, is about to become one of his overseers.
With the Republicans coming to power, Paul, who would like to abolish the Fed and the nation's current monetary system, will become the chairman of the House Subcommittee on Domestic Monetary... (more)
Ann Poe has been in the airline industry for 37 years. She is a 777 pilot at Continental Airlines and was one of the first 100 female airline pilots in the United States.
"Subjecting ourselves to additional radiation with the body scanner and its invasion of medical privacy, or being sexually molested should not be part of our job. TSA is now actively groping the breasts, butt, pelvic and groin area, and running hands up thighs until they stop. It is a huge stressor, contributes... (more)
Pilot unions at two of the nation's largest airlines are advising their members not to submit to body scanners at airport security checkpoints as tension grows over what they see as intrusive or risky checks.
Unions representing pilots at American Airlines and US Airways have advised their more than 14,000 members to avoid the scanners, which peer beneath clothing, and instead get a pat down from Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers.
This is a letter from Captain Dave Bates, the president of the Allied Pilots Association, which represents 11,000 American Airlines pilots, to his members, in which he calls on pilots to refuse back-scatter screening and demand private pat-downs from TSA officers. Bates's argument is multifaceted and extremely cogent. He worries about increased exposure to radiation, of course (a big worry among commercial pilots) and he is eloquent on the subject of intentional humiliation:
In August, we blogged about a court decision from the federal court in the Eastern District of New York that held that law enforcement agents are constitutionally obligated to get a warrant based on probable cause before obtaining historical cell phone location inf... (more)

Spurred by Orlando police officer Travis Lamont's neck-snapping takedown of 84 year-old Daniel Daley in September, Orlando Copwatch -- a group once headed by firebrand radio host George Crossley — convened yesterday to protest in front of police headquarters downtown. "Fire Lamont!" the protesters shouted... (more)
I agree with most of his criticisms, I just personally don't think they're shills.
I judge that mainly by the reaction of the regime and their corollary propaganda.
They spin all these leaks to make it seem like Iran is some villain and the leaks prove some pro-regimist agenda, I think that's just spin because most of the documents are internal propaganda. (see below) - Chris
