Former Ambassador to Croatia Peter Galbraith is claiming President George W. Bush was unaware that there were two major sects of Islam just two months before the President ordered troops to invade Iraq, RAW STORY has learned.
In his new book, The End of Iraq: How American Incompetence Created A War Without End, Galbraith, the son of the late economist John Kenneth Galbraith, claims that American leadership knew very little about the nature of Iraqi society and the problems it woul... (more)
ISRAEL’s military campaign in southern Lebanon is still being backed by most American voters, according to a survey published yesterday that shows public opinion in the US once again sharply at odds with views in Europe.
The Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll found that 59 per cent believed that Israel’s actions were “justified”, although a quarter of this group stated that the military had behaved in an “excessively harsh” fashion.
Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson has jumped into the growing chasm between evangelicals divided over the issue of global warming.
On his "700 Club" broadcast yesterday, Robertson told viewers that while he had not been a believer in global warming in the past, the record-breaking heatwave blanketing the U.S. was "making a convert out of me."
"We really need to address the burning of fossil fuels," he said. "It is getting hotter, and the icecaps are melting and ... (more)
Attorney Gao has been beaten on two occasions by the Chinese communist regime's special agents in July 2006, during the 8th month of the regime's continuous surveillance. The beatings occurred under Gao's apartment building. Gao said, on July 30, he was beaten by plainclothes agents in a life threatening manner at least three times. Attorney Gao believes the escalated violence during the attacks show the increasing desperation among the special agents in trying to break him down.
BAGHDAD, Iraq Two international media watchdogs have condemned the slayings of two journalists in Iraq that one of the groups said raised to at least 100 the number of media members killed since the U.S. invasion in March 2003.
"No armed conflict since the Second World War has been so deadly for the press," Reporters Without Borders, a French press freedom organization, said in a statement Wednesday. The group described the high death toll as "appalling."
The June 2006 L.A. American Scholars Symposium is still the most popular online streaming choice for C-Span viewers, according to their companion Capital News website.
The 9/11 truth symposium, hosted by Alex Jones, featured numerous credible researchers and whistleblowers - as well as a speech by actor Charlie Sheen.
The program, carried under the banner of C-Span's 'American Perspectives' slot, caused waves across the Inte... (more)
The United States needs to begin withdrawing troops from Iraq within the next six months, Sen. Chuck Hagel said Thursday, rather than ratcheting up its military commitment now.
With Iraq exploding in sectarian violence and “moving closer and closer to a straight-out civil war,” Hagel said, the Bush administration’s decision to transfer nearly 5,000 additional U.S. troops into Baghdad is “only going to make it worse for us.”
Last week the Pentagon ordered American servicemen in Iraq to stop posting private video clips on the internet.
These "trophy videos" have become one of the more extraordinary by-products of modern-day warfare as soldiers - like everyday tourists - send video images ranging from the comic to the utterly horrific back home to impress friends and titillate the fans of "uncensored war".
There are hundreds of hours of this stuff posted up on a range of internet sites - ... (more)
Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora said on Thursday that over 900 people had been killed in Israel's over-three-week-old offensive against Hezbollah.
Siniora also said in a video statement to a meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) that about 3,000 people had been wounded.
A third of the casualties were children under 12, said Siniora, adding that 1 million people, or a quarter of Lebanon's population, had been displaced in the violence. <... (more)
Last night's Talking Points Memo had Bill O'Reilly in a royal snit about the worldwide protests and condemnations inflamed by Israel's bombing of a building in Qana Lebanon, killing some 60 people including 37 children. Relying once again on the "hate" card, O'Reilly says it is hatred and not compassion that drives people out to protest the "mistake" that killed the women and children, and a desire to to advance the cause of Islamic fascism. He habitually ascribes dark motives to anyone who beha... (more)
PARK CITY, Utah, Aug. 1, 2006 — Floyd Landis would have a tough time in this mining town turned ski mecca. His abnormally high testosterone levels, whether synthetic or natural, would have to be curbed in this mountain town. In many areas, the speed limit is 20 mph. And should Landis ever venture deeper into the Rocky Mountains, he'd find the speed limit is even lower.
Beginning today, Denver police began enforcing a 15 mph speed limit for bicyclists in the mile-high city's ... (more)
SCHOOLS would no longer be required to teach children the difference between right and wrong under plans to revise the core aims of the National Curriculum.
Instead, under a new wording that reflects a world of relative rather than absolute values, teachers would be asked to encourage pupils to develop “secure values and beliefsâ€.
The draft also purges references to promoting leadership skills and deletes the requirement to teach... (more)
A United States federal yesterday posted online nearly all of the evidence in the sentencing portion of the trial of convicted 9/11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui, RAW STORY has learned.
All totalled, just 7 of the 1,202 exhibits introduced in the case are now under seal. Among those are the voice recording from United Flight 93, which crashed before hitting its target, into a Pennsylvania field. A transcript of the tape, however, was released during the trial.
I really, truly do wonder about the people on FOX News. How do they get up every morning and trot off to work knowing that they'll spend most of their time telling lies and distorting reality? I guess either they are "true believers" or the exact opposite - people with no ideals or principles who'd sell their grandmother for a six-figure paycheck and a chance at the limelight.
Yesterday morning's FOX & Friends was just another in a long series of pro-Israel, pro-war spin-fests de... (more)
WASHINGTON -- For a decade, the daily White House news briefing has been televised. Now it is becoming television.
Earlier this year, Fox News talk show host Tony Snow was hired as press secretary. Next up: a renovation of the briefing room, likely with a video wall that could display everything from "flags waving in the breeze [to] detailed charts and graphs," according to a senior White House official working on the project. For TV viewers, the video feed could be the sole on-sc... (more)

Experts insist 9/11 an inside coup by US war party; ask citizens to promote CSPAN panel on talk radio; warn of WW III, martial law, unless we learn to recognize fake terror.

Thousands of Lebanese civilians fled the battered border villages in the south Monday, taking advantage of a 24-hour window from Israel to leave the area and allow aid to reach the worst-hit villages.
Civilians drove toward Tyre, white flags fluttering from their cars, buses and pickup trucks. Some people headed the other way to check on their homes or help relatives trapped in villages by Israel Air Force bombing.
Two United Nations aid convoys left Lebanon's capit... (more)
WASHINGTON -- Fewer than three prisoners in every 1,000 report they were sexually abused or harassed, but that probably is not the whole story, a government study says.
There may be far more sexual violence in prisons than is reported, the study's authors said, because inmates fear reprisal, adhere to a code of silence, do not trust the staff or are embarrassed.
"Administrative records alone cannot provide reliable estimates of sexual violence," wrote Allen J. Beck ... (more)
An advertisement running on Fox News network today, paid for by The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, is asking viewers to "stand with Israel in its time of need."
