Grain stockpiles at lowest for 25 yearsThe world’s stockpiles of wheat are at their lowest level in more than a quarter century, according to the US Department of Agriculture, which on Thursday slashed its forecasts for global wheat and corn production.
The lower forecasts were largely attributable to the severe drought in Australia, where the forecast for this year’s wheat crop was cut by 8.5m tons to 11m. That is less than half of the 24m produced last year, of which about 17m went to exports.

Officials Say No Distress Call Was Made From Lidle's Plane Federal investigators are backing away from an earlier report of a distress call from Corey Lidle's plane. They now say the FAA has found no indication of a mayday call during the 15 minutes the plane was airborne before it crashed into a high-rise condo in Manhattan.
The plane carrying the New York Yankees pitcher and another person had taken off from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey. Both were killed in the crash

Horse rider charged with DUICLAYTON - When a Rabun County woman recovers from an wreck Friday, she faces one count of DUI - for riding a horse while impaired, according to a Georgia State Patrol trooper.
At about 10:30 p.m. Friday, Trooper Anthony Coleman said he charged the 22-year-old rider with entering a traffic lane.
"If it's on the public right-of-way, you're under the same jurisdiction as if you're in a car," Mr. Coleman said.

Lidle Not Instrument Rated To Fly Plane Sources tell NBC 10 that former Phillies pitcher Cory Lidle was the pilot of a small plane that flew into a New York high-rise on Wednesday.
Officials now say Lidle and another person were killed in the crash. An FAA official told the Associated Press that there may have been another person on the small plane with Lidle.
Lidle was traded by the Phillies to the New York Yankess this July.

More Americans Want Immediate Iraq Withdrawal- More adults in the United States believe the coalition effort should come to an end, according to a poll by Gallup released by USA Today. 37 per cent of respondents think the U.S. should enact an immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq, up six points since June.
In addition, 30 per cent of respondents believe the U.S. military should stay the course, while 26 per cent suggest a gradual withdrawal of soldiers.
