Some 41% of Americans now believe the U.S. made the right decision in using military force against Iraq, down from 45% in April of 2007. A 53% majority now say that using military force against Iraq was the wrong decision. And the number saying the U.S. military effort is not going well stands at 59% in the current survey. ... (more)
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Five-year-old Youssif is scarred for life, his once beautiful smile turned into a grotesquely disfigured face -- the face of a horrifying act by masked men. They grabbed him on a January day outside his central Baghdad home, doused him with gas and set him ablaze.
It's an act incomprehensibly savage, even by Iraq's standards today. No one has been arrested and the motive remains unknown.
In a war-ravaged city torn by sectarian violence and mar... (more)
This event is being used as another Nick Berg type psy-op to get everyone rabid to go and kill the "savages" who did this. Ask yourself, who benefits from this event? That is the only way you will find a culprit.
WASHINGTON - There it sits on your night stand, that book you've meant to read for who knows how long but haven't yet cracked open. Tonight, as you feel its stare from beneath that teetering pile of magazines, know one thing -- you are not alone.
One in four adults read no books at all in the past year, according to an Associated Press-Ipsos poll released today. Of those who did read, women and older people were most avid, and religious works and popular fiction were the top choic... (more)

Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), one of the most anti-war members of the House, accused the Bush Administration's labeling of Iran's Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization a prelude for war there.
"The belligerent Bush Administration is using this pending designation to convince the American public into accepting that a war with Iran is inevitable," Kucinich said. "This designation will set the stage for more chaos in the region because it undercuts all of our diplomatic effo... (more)

What you can get someone to imagine is percieved as real and will therefor not be resisted. This is a tactic used by marketers and scam artists alike. Such is the purpose of this article -- imagine being a terrorist. Because perception creates reality for most people, an article like this can actually trigger someone to carry out a terror attack.
This Steven D. Levitt hackjob uses this same imagination tactic in his idiotic book Freakonomics. There are parts in it when he says things to the extent of "If you had to kill one born baby, or 1000 unborn babies, which would you chose?" What this does is it gets the reader to psychologically bathe in the idea of killing babies, both born and unborn, and choose which to kill. 24 does the same thing when Jack Bauer gets into situations where he "needs" to torture someone to keep a nuke from blowing up.
So to sum it up, Steven D. Levitt is essentially attempting to create terrorists with this article (which would, of course, be convenient to the establishment which Levitt serves, because there are no real terrorists). Look for similar articles, tv shows, etc. to show up following this same pattern. - Chris
ONE MONTH from The Anniversary, I'm thinking another 9/11 would help America.
What kind of a sick bastard would write such a thing?
A bastard so sick of how splintered we are politically - thanks mainly to our ineptitude in Iraq - that we have forgotten who the enemy is.
It is not Bush and it is not Hillary and it is not Daily Kos or Bill O'Reilly or Giuliani or Barack. It is global terrorists who use Islam to justify their hideous sins, including blo... (more)

From "An Inconvenient Truth" to popularizing the Prius, Hollywood has helped lead the way on some environmental issues. One of the latest initiatives: Cool Change, Fox's company-wide program to reduce the network's impact on global warming. As part of that effort, the seventh season of "24" will take steps to reduce and offset the carbon emissions from the show's production, with the goal of having the season finale be entirely carbon-neutral.
The number of Americans admitted to Canada last year reached a 30-year high, with a 20 per cent increase over the previous year and nearly double the number that arrived in 2000.
The results of a survey, conducted by the Association for Canadian Studies, also revealed that the so-called "brain drain" of Canada appears to be narrowing.
The survey found that 10,942 Americans came to Canada in 2006, compared to just over 9,262 in 2005. In 2000,... (more)
