New York – On a teeming street in Mumbai's Dharavi slum, amid a colorful swirl of sweet lime carts and red-clay pottery, Pastor Bala Singh brings an assortment of buckets to retrieve his daily ration of water. The indoor spigot he uses provides water only three hours a day. It is the only source for the six small homes on his street, and each family has 30 minutes to fill its containers.
Pastor Singh is not complaining, though. Things are greatly improved from when he first ... (more)
“Socialism” is a negative for most Americans, but certainly not all Americans. “Capitalism” is regarded positively by a majority of the public, though it is a thin majority. There are certain segments of the public – notably, young people and Democrats – where both “isms” are rated about equally. And while most Americans have a negative reaction to the word “militia,” the term is viewed more positively by Republican men than most other ... (more)

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer ignored Obama, the Democrats in Washington, and La Raza and other pro-illegal immigration groups and signed a law that will allow police to deal with illegal aliens. “We in Arizona have been more than patient waiting for Washington to act,” Brewer said after signing the law. “But decades of inaction and misguided policy have created a dangerous and unacceptable situation.”
On Friday Obama called the bill “misguided” and i... (more)
Disciplining young children is one of the key jobs of any parent - most people would have no trouble agreeing with that. But whether or not that discipline should include spanking or other forms of corporal punishment is a far trickier issue.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) does not endorse spanking for any reason, citing its lack of long-term effectiveness as a behavior-changing tactic. Instead the AAP supports strategies such as "time-outs" when children misbehave, whic... (more)
Sounds like a good reason to choose spanking! In all seriousness 'time outs' are the most cruel and inhumane thing you can do to a person, child or not. - Chris

You know what else Jesus did? He ransacked a temple with a bunch of money changers, literally throwing over their tables stacked full of coinage and spilling their loot everywhere, all the while scolding them as 'hypocrites' and a 'den of thieves' !
That's not exactly the timid, soft, weak, 'push-over' Jesus they like to have people think he is. One of my pet peeves are 'christians' who think it's somehow ungodly to raise your voice or scold hypocrites, but if you actually read the bible that was Jesus's "thing" ! - Chris, InfoLib
