Leftists love to act like Denmark is a socialist paradise, but the fact of the matter is Denmark has its problems, largely as a result of their socialist economic system.
I found this forum post from City-Data quite an entertaining:
Ok seriously I have been reading all over the Internet about how wonderful Denmark is and the comments are usually written by Ameri

The Federal Reserve is the ultimate tool of socialism because it's what makes all quiet wealth redistribution possible. Instead of having to tax people to pay for all the government handouts, they can just print the money and quietly devalue the currency. These things didn't start with Obama and it won't end when he is kicked out of office.
(July 8) -- FBI agents are supposed to unearth scams, not become victims of them. This time is different.
Some 300 retired and current federal agents -- representing the FBI, the Drug Enforcement Administration and Immigration and Customs Enforcement -- collectively invested tens of millions of dollars of retirement money in what turned out to be a Ponzi scheme allegedly run by a Florida man who committed suicide last month, an attorney in the case said.
WASHINGTON - Now your pet can make a pit stop too before getting on the plane with you at two D.C. area airports.
Dulles and Reagan National Airports have opened "pet relief areas" to give dogs a place to go to the bathroom at the airport.
The pet areas were created because of federal rules requiring "service animal relief areas" for service animals that accompany passengers on trips, but the areas are also open for families traveling with pets.

NEW YORK (AP) — Americans avoided television in historic levels over the past week.
CBS, NBC, ABC and Fox together had the smallest number of prime-time viewers last week in two decades of record-keeping, the Nielsen Co. said. Given the dominance of the big broadcasters before then, you'd probably have to go back to the early days of television to find such a collective shrug.
The first week of July tends to be among the slowest weeks of the year in television... (more)
California voters, by a modest margin, think they should be allowed to grow and consume marijuana, according to a new poll that also found more than 1 in 3 voters had tried pot and more than 1 in 10 had lit up in the past year.
The Los Angeles Times/USC poll found that voters back the marijuana legalization measure on the November ballot, 49% to 41%, with 10% uncertain about it. But support for the initiative is unstable, with one-third of the supporters saying they favor it only ... (more)
In case you don’t know, Oprah has been running a competition to give one lucky citizen the chance to have his or her own television show. Anyone can enter by submitting a tape, but then the tape must be voted up in an online poll to be in contention for earning its creator a series. One contestant, Zach Anner, suffers from cerebral palsy and wants to host a humorous travel show that would illustrate great trips t... (more)

With a Democrat in the White House whose approval ratings have fallen well below 50 percent, liberal websites are entering some new territory--how to handle users who are reliably liberal but are not fans of President Barack Obama.
Case in point is Democratic Underground (aka DU), a liberal discussion forum started in 2001 that, up until recently, was united in its hatred for former president George W. Bush. But now that many Democrats have withdrawn their support of Obama, DU res... (more)
Are streets without traffic signs conceivable? Seven cities and regions in Europe are giving it a try -- with good results.
"We reject every form of legislation," the Russian aristocrat and "father of anarchism" Mikhail Bakunin once thundered. The czar banished him to Siberia. But now it seems his ideas are being rediscovered.
European traffic planners are dreaming of streets free of rules and directives. They want drivers and pedestrians to interac... (more)

Most Americans report their state currently has a budget crisis, and they continue to blame politicians more than taxpayers for the problem.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Adults shows 75% say the unwillingness of politicians to reduce government spending is more to blame for current state budget crises than the unwillingness of taxpayers to pay more in taxes
Only 13% take the opposing view and blame taxpayers' unwillingness to pay more t... (more)
California's cash crop could become dirt cheap if the state legalizes marijuana.
Researchers associated with the Rand Corp.'s Drug Policy Research Center said Wednesday that not much is certain about the potential impact of Proposition 19 except that the price of California's choicest weed could plunge more than 80%, down from $300 to $450 per ounce to about $38.
"That's a significant drop," said Beau Kilmer, co-director of the center. "We're very clear about the fa... (more)

Larry King gives up his CNN show after 25 primetime years and a nation (allegedly) weeps. But look for the bigger picture as well as a hankie. The Larry interview show has lost 36% of its audience in a year. The Campbell Brown show that preceded it is no more: Ms Brown watched 35% go and decided to spend more time with her children. Last April, John King, who starts CNN evenings, attracted only 109,000 viewers under the age of 54. Puny numbers. Cue advertisers spending more time with their navel... (more)
Most Americans say don’t mess with the U.S. Constitution, even though a plurality still believes it does not restrict the government enough.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Adults shows that, when asked their views on changing the Constitution, 62% say it should be left alone. Twenty-four percent (24%) believe minor changes are needed, while only seven percent (7%) see a need for major changes.
"39% believe the current document does not put enough restrictions on what the government can do."
As Thoreau said, "That government is best which governs least." ...and that's why the best government is no government at all!
The "services" government provides are all a laughingstock joke, they could be replaced in the free market practically overnight with all the creative entrepreneurs we have in the world!
Just look at how fast the innovations on the internet take place, from social networking to tweeting, to all these file sharing sites, to Rapidshare and Megaupload, to Reddit, Digg and StumbleUpon! Imagine if that creative spirit was put to work providing services like courts and protection agencies!
At the very least allow people to compete in these industries! Repeal all these non-compete government-monopoly-enforcing laws and you'd see the best government the world has ever seen. Just as every few months out comes the best new computer or cell phone the world has ever seen!
Free-markets work! Coercive government monopolies do not! - Chris, InfoLib

These findings are basically unchanged from early April prior to the eruption of the oil leak.
