Man Posts Fliers For Missing Service Dog, Police Respond With Threats of Citation, Fine & Jail

Chris | InformationLiberation

From KING 5:
A Marysville man who suffers from post traumatic stress disorder says his service dog, Nanna, is missing. When police contacted him, he hoped for good news. Instead he was threatened with a citation, a fine, and possible jail time.

Shawn Slater, 34, took a number of medications for his anxiety and seizures until he got Nanna. The 3-year-old Rottweiler is a certified medical alert and therapy dog.

"With Nanna, I didn't take any medication at all, said Slater. I was two years clean off all those drugs. I didn't have problems. I didn't even have to take her everywhere I went. I'm finally employed again.

But just before the 4th of July, fireworks in the neighborhood frightened the dog. She forced her way through a hole in the fence and escaped. Even worse, she ripped off her dog tags in the process.

Friends helped put up fliers through the city, but made the mistake of attaching them to utility poles and city property, which is illegal.

That's when someone from the police department called.

"If I were to put another sign up, I will be getting a $250 fine and a day in jail per sign, Slater said the caller told him.
The police said it was a "courtesy call" and he should be grateful they didn't ticket him and take him to jail immediately.

70199 Too bad he didn't keep his dog inside the house when fireworks are going off.
Sure hope more people learn this lesson.
The city 'rule keepers' are such dicks.
It's all about revenue. They could care less about citizens' predicaments.
I've been through this kind of crap in Alhambra, Ca over some limbs that were trimmed and in a pile in my front yard and hadn't been cleaned up when I broke my back and was in the hospital.
All the while, my neighbor had a jungle growing on her property and the house was a slum and an eyesore. and a fire hazard to the whole neighborhood made up of 1920's wood stick houses that would have exploded with a spark. Her trash cans even spontaneously combusted in the alley one day.
I long for the day when we can just shoot these city spies on sight. Maybe then they'll mind their own business instead of ours looking for a buck.
