Obama to sign indefinite detention bill into law

By Glenn Greenwald

In one of the least surprising developments imaginable, President Obama -- after spending months threatening to veto the Levin/McCain detention bill -- yesterday announced that he would instead sign it into law (this is the same individual, of course, who unequivocally vowed when seeking the Democratic nomination to support a filibuster of "any bill that includes retroactive immunity for telecom[s],” only to turn around -- once he had the nomination secure — and not only vote against such a filibuster, but to vote in favor of the underlying bill itself, so this is perfectly consistent with his past conduct). As a result, the final version of the Levin/McCain bill will be enshrined as law this week as part of the the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). I wrote about the primary provisions and implications of this bill last week, and won’t repeat those points here.

The ACLU said last night that the bill contains “harmful provisions that some legislators have said could authorize the U.S. military to pick up and imprison without charge or trial civilians, including American citizens, anywhere in the world” and added: “if President Obama signs this bill, it will damage his legacy.” Human Rights Watch said that Obama’s decision “does enormous damage to the rule of law both in the US and abroad” and that “President Obama will go down in history as the president who enshrined indefinite detention without trial in US law.”

Both groups pointed out that this is the first time indefinite detention has been enshrined in law since the McCarthy era of the 1950s, when — as the ACLU put it — “President Truman had the courage to veto” the Internal Security Act of 1950 on the ground that it “would make a mockery of our Bill of Rights” and then watched Congress override the veto. That Act authorized the imprisonment of Communists and other “subversives” without the necessity of full trials or due process (many of the most egregious provisions of that bill were repealed by the 1971 Non-Detention Act, and are now being rejuvenated by these War on Terror policies of indefinite detention). President Obama, needless to say, is not Harry Truman. He’s not even the Candidate Obama of 2008 who repeatedly insisted that due process and security were not mutually exclusive and who condemned indefinite detention as “black hole” injustice.

standard military tactics, to imprison everyone in shutter island through fear you have to have lists of people as prototype prisoners for some gulag. i have been on a few of those lists, as people are likely to know now, official records are subject to revision to suit the moment. though people are really being murdered, including here in britland, it is a smokescreen for a busted empire in retreat.

someone commented to me on my last post, said it was short, it wasn't dave. as far as i know it is the same dave as before here, no revision by people swaps (which happens). the issue for me was, scanning some of the stories here, the stories are quoting numerous alphabet agencies, ie the function of the site by aggregation would be as a wave machine for military counter intelligence. aclu is self evidently not real though some time ago i checked both the people and the money supply.

the child lock media

there is a continuous stream of floating paradigms for people to engage in the information war though much of it is designed with instrinsic injury. people could be tied down continuously in that information war, frankly for me i am getting bored with the b*lls*t, it is dying anyway. the media is a hoax, a lot of it like a playground for instutionalised children calling each other names.

many of us are living what could be called alternative lifestyles, that is living in towns where we are likely living remote from supply of food, water and other utility supplies. if that is so, one would want to be sure that no one owns or charges for the trainset or everyone is taken for a ride. that is richard branson's cover busted incidentally though pay the ferryman and he is offering to take you to the moon.

most of the elephant that people see but don't see is distraction, much of what is done subject to disguise, the military operations hidden behind fronts which charge people for excess loot. it is sold openly in places they call shops. hence 'orwell's' remark about british people eating strawberries, the triumph of empires is to make psychopaths called citizens/subjects or other religions and have these people believe they were making a living not a killing.

the false matrix is so absurd it cannot stand up without immense effort or at this stage at all hence all the reich 4 actors. in britland that includes lots of spookies and blue tops from the cop shop. with an unconscious theatre people remain attached to madness in the loop where while the show is running people come, because people come the show goes on. for such reasons my short post, to even enter their mind f*s is if not brain damage, a waste of resources once the truth is out there that the entire media system is in the club of isles as per my recent post on the city of london where information went from bank to lawyer to police to police, ie on and off the island through the police.

much of the occult realm has by claim based power on knowledge. it looks to me to be based on people running round in jackboots but regardless, once people's false matrix starts to collapse they will start with answers as they will be able to see for and by themselves what is.

to give some examples from my own life. i was being given coffee in a church serving the destitute and talking to someone who would have presented themself as 'christian'. i was talking about pulling people's false matrix on a one to one basis and the person i was talking to suddenly realised what i was presenting to them, it was a filter that let them see their own false matrix. just as the person's false matrix was shutting down the homeless serving time was shut down urgently for a 'meeting'. that is how vulnerable it all is, maintained by vast network of gnomes. such gnomes have included all manner of people, in one instance a doctor hiding in a bush then thinking he had been seen trying to make a run for it but for being entangled by the bush.

such things have been regular, i was talking in a cathedral and the fire alarm goes off, in a coffee shop and the fire alarm goes off, talked outside of a church at night only to hear footsteps inside the locked church. not ghosts, i am talking secret passages and gnomes who form part of matrix security. the churches weren't alarmed for a reason and this brings focus on what fronts known as insurance companies really are.

keeping people under mind control, subservient to absurd lies and madness cannot survive one mind that seeks to connect to reality.

108198 Will Congress Expand The Defense Authorization Act To Include YOU as a “Covered Person?"

It is problematic U.S. Government in the future will want to expand the scoop of Section 1021 in the passed Defense Authorization Act of 2012 (to include as “covered persons” for Indefinite Detention, not only persons “suspected of substantially supporting al-Qaeda or the Taliban; or their associated forces engaged in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners” (but add to the list of “covered persons” (other) alleged terrorists and organizations foreign or domestic. Currently what constitutes (1) a terrorist act, (2) supporting terrorists or (3) being a “Belligerent” is broadly vague and not clearly defined? For example, Americans attending a protest demonstration against a U.S. Policy or U.S. Military Action could be charged with all (three) under the Patriot Act and The Defense Authorization Act of 2012.

Provisions in The Defense Authorization Act of 2012 govern the “Authority of the President and Armed Forces to Detain (Covered Persons) without trial pursuant to the (AUMF) Authorization for Use of Military Force.

FYI: Glenn Greenwald recently wrote an article titled “Three myths about the detention bill” that deeply examine provisions of The Defense Authorization Act including wording that is broadly vague, that potentially could cause the indefinite incarceration of Americans without trial; and conflicting definitions of “Covered Persons” in provisions (A) & (B) of section 1021. You may read Glen Greenwald’s article at:

Is The Passed Defense Authorization Act of 2012 (retroactive) To Detain Americans?
