Remember the story of the Lake County, Florida man who answered his door at 1:30AM with a gun and was shot by deputies who mistakenly went to the wrong house? The deputies said they were looking for an "attempted murder" suspect, though the suspect they were looking for actually lived a few doors down. Well, it turns out the "attempted murder" suspect deputies said they were pursuing was actually a Good Samaritan who tried to stop a fight, and the man's lawyer says the deputies "inflated" the charges against him to try and justify their shooting of his innocent neighbor.

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — All of the charges have been dropped against the alleged attempted-murder suspect Lake County deputies said they were hunting when they killed an innocent man instead.

A Lake County deputy shot and killed Andrew Scott in July, but his neighbor, Jonathan Brown, is the man deputies said they were actually looking for, and he was charged with attempted murder.

Wednesday, Brown and his lawyer told Channel 9 charges against him were inflated to justify the aggressive actions at his apartment complex that led to Scott being killed.

"I'm not an attempted murderer. I was just trying to break a fight up," said Brown.

The charges were later downgraded and Wednesday a judge dismissed them, citing witness interviews that refute police accusations.

Unfortunately, the police exonerated their underlings shortly after they killed Andrew Scott, his family is planning to sue them nonetheless, they will likely simply pay out a settlement with taxpayers' cash and face zero personal liability.
