Small Town Deemed A "Little Police State" By Residents Who Live In Fear Of Out Of Control Police

Chris | InformationLiberation

Residents of a small town in Texas are living in fear because their out of control police are essentially terrorist drug dealers who run around arresting innocent little old ladies for daring to speak out against them at council meetings.

WFAA reports:
COVINGTON - Unless you turn at the blinking light at State Highway 171 and FM 67, you might not notice Covington, Texas, which is the way most in this tiny town want it.

Now, out of fear and frustration, they want the public to know.

"They are scared to death now," said Covington City Council member Marty Smith. "They lock their doors, they lock the car doors because they are scared of the police."

Smith said she also fears the man running the Hill County town, Police Chief Wade Laurence.

"Wade Lawrence asked me what it was going to take to shut me up, and them to arrest me and handcuff me at a council meeting," Smith said. "I'm 69 years old and I don't need the hassle of it."

166216 It isn't a bit surprising to hear some people with horror stories and then have people who think the police force of a small town can do no wrong. Bad cops in small towns can't keep their jobs of they violate everyone's rights. They have a control group they bend over backwards to please and then all the rest out of power folks that are at their mercy. I don't think anyone plans for a force to get out of control but here in Collinsville, Tex I've watched a police force go from aggressively enforcing the law to manufacturing a reason for their initial stop of a vehicle just to see if they can actually find something to give a ticket for. Their latest trick is to claim you didn't signal a turn soon enough and then try find a reason to search your car, or figure out a legitimate citation to issue and only issue a warning for the turn signal violation which never existed. The mayor loves the department, it is finaly bringing in real money for.the.bloated city budget. Anyone who isn't well off are who is.out late a night, even those who work late are subject to be followed by the police with their lights out, and being stopped for.almost anything.
I doubt the people of this story wanted to create an.out of control small town police force, and many of them probably don't believe they have, but I've seen it in.a.dozen little towns, and I'm sure it's true there just as it is here.
