Give Homeless Man A Dollar, Get Ticketed For Littering & Dragged Into Court

This is what passes for "police protection."

Via The Daily Caller:
Fox 8 in Cleveland is reporting that a man who stopped to give a homeless man a dollar bill was ticketed for littering and has appeared in court.

A police officer issued a $344 ticket to Cleveland resident John Davis for littering after he dropped dollar bills to a disabled person on a sidewalk. The court costs could bring the total fine up to as much as $500, in addition to attorney fees and missed work time.

Davis is attempting to fight the ticket because he believes that his helpful intent was clear. Davis "never thought that a couple dollars could turn into a couple hundred dollars."

After getting bad press, the Chief City Prosecutor has since decided to drop the charges.

Unfortunately, the victim in this case will not be reimbursed for any lost work/damages, and the cop is still free to continue running his shakedown operations.

Justice not served.

7618 Typical police officer BS. How big of a heartless loser do you have to be to write a ticket for this NOT to mention a complete waste of Tax Payer's money too. This cop should have to pay all fees associated with the judge, court and the portion of his own salary that was wasted on such a rediculous ticket.
