A Cleveland Officer has been dismissed for mishandling evidence. Roger Smith admitted he lied to police after keeping marijuana that was found in the pocket of Dustin Ledford, the victim of the fatal crash on APD-40 last weekend. Smith was given the evidence at the hospital. According to proper protocol, he was required to turn in the evidence at the end of his shift. The next day Smith was asked for the evidence by his superiors and claimed he had thrown it out of his window. This prompted an investigation and Smith was put on paid-leave. Smith then came forward with the evidence claiming he had found it in his car. He also admitted to lying to police and the decision to dismiss him came Friday. Read More |
