South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem (R) on Sunday admitted that she did not meet with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un as her new book claimed.

"I remember when I met with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un," her book No Going Back stated. "I'm sure he underestimated me, having no clue about my experience staring down little tyrants (I'd been a children's pastor, after all)."

When confronted on the passage, Noem said: "As soon as this was brought to my attention, I certainly made some changes and looked at this passage. I've met with many, many world leaders. I've traveled around the world. As soon as it was brought to my attention, we went forward and made some edits."

Asked directly if she met with Kim Jong Un, Noem said: "No, I've met with many, many world leaders, many world leaders ... I'm not going to talk about my specific meetings with world leaders, I'm just not going to do that. This anecdote shouldn’t have been in the book and as soon as it was brought to my attention, I made sure that was adjusted."

This shows Noem's book was ghostwritten with at least one story made up out of whole cloth.

What are the odds her story about shooting her pup "Cricket" was made up just the same?

I assumed it was a lie when I first heard it. I suspect she won't admit it because admitting it was fake sounds even worse than defending it as justified.

When Noem signed the "strongest" hate crime bill in the country into law in March to silence criticism of "God's chosen people," she told a similarly suspect story claiming her (late) father "would always gather our family together and we would pray for Israel."

"When I was growing up, my dad would always gather our family together and we would pray for Israel. It was instilled in me from a very young age that the Jews were Gods [sic] chosen people, that Israel was the Holy Land, and that we should always pray for them," Noem (or her staff) wrote in a statement in March.

The story sounds fake as hell and as far as I can tell it was the first time she ever told it.
