Hostage Escapes Motel Standoff, Gets Shot & Killed By Police

Chris | InformationLiberation

An unarmed 19-year-old hostage was gunned down by police after narrowly escaping an armed gunman engaged in a standoff in a hotel in Minnesota.

The StarTribune reports:
Mark Eric Henderson Jr. saw his opportunity to escape from the Woodbury motel room where he and seven other people were being held hostage early Friday, and he took it.

When the gunman who had been tormenting the group told Henderson to go to the window to see if any police were outside, Henderson took his chance and made a beeline for the door. The kidnapper opened fire at him in response but missed. As Henderson bolted out the door toward them, Woodbury police opened fire and cut him down.

The 19-year-old St. Paul man died later that day at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

"He tried to get out to save his life," said his mother, Tawana Henderson. "When he opened the hotel door to run out, the police opened fire and killed him."
As you can see in this clip, the police initially reported the innocent hostage was armed and fired on police. A witness, who did not want to be identified, said he was watching everything take place and the man was not armed. Contradicting the police's story at the time, he said, "I didn't see a gun, I didn't see anything. The cops opened up probably 10 to 15 rounds on him."

The police eventually realized the "gunman" they unloaded on was an innocent hostage and they acknowledged he was unarmed. The three cops who shot the innocent 19-year-old were placed on "paid administrative leave" while the police conduct an "investigation" of themselves.

98234 When the economy collapses and "We the People" will be responsible to protect our family, our blocks and out nation... Should we allow for the police any amount of leeway? Meaning, if they have a shoot-first ask later approach, what would you suggest we do? Wait to get shot and if we do not then we play nicy-nice? You cops are digging your own graves allowing your training to outweigh your common sense... Pathetic.

7266 They will lie at the drop of a hat to protect themselves. I agree with SBC we are the enemy to these assholes, however it turns out in the end we will have to protect our own by what ever means necessary. It is pretty stupid of them to keep pushing the limits of their power because the people of this Country will omly take so much, and then ..............the backlash. Eather way it will not end well

6942 Way too many of these incidents. Law enforcement shooting too many innocent people. The Police State is upon us. This all is because of the 911 excuse to kill us off next. You are the terrorists and of course you fired on the police or threatened them somehow so they can use deadly force on you; including shooting you in the back of the head. Where is the public outrage? Maybe when it happens to you or your family but the it's really too late to matter.

20854 Unfortunately, not only will the cops who shot the victim escape criminal punishment, but under felony-murder rules, the hostage TAKER will be charged with murder. The rule goes something like this: the hostage taker set the chain of events in motion. Had he not taken the hostages (which is the underlying felony), the cops would not have had to come out, so since he started it all, he gets to do the time for the dead guy the cops shot.

Happens in bank robberies all the time. Two guys go into a bank to rob it. On the way out the cops are waiting. There's a shoot-out, and one of the two robbers is killed by police. The partner in crime (the other robber) gets charged with felony murder. He set the events in motion, so even though it was the police bullets that did the killing, the robber left alive gets to do time for murder.

But let's hope these cops all lose their gun permits and their jobs, or else nobody else in that town is safe either.
