A cop in Kansas City allegedly raped multiple women after he told them they could either allow him to have sex with them or he'd have them arrested.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A 13-year veteran of the Kansas City Police Department is behind bars after allegedly having sex with two women in exchange for not arresting them, NBC station kshb.com reported.
I find it interesting that rather than describe this event as a straightforward rape, the news is describing this event as an "exchange."
"A 13-year veteran of the Kansas City Police Department is behind bars after allegedly having sex with two women in exchange for not arresting them," the opening line reads.
In reality, the uniformed and fully armed police officer threatened to arrest the women for non-crimes such as prostitution and possession of marijuana unless they had sex with him. The article and headline implies the cop somehow relented to have sex with the women in exchange for not arresting them, as though it was some sort of trade, rather than an armed agent of the state straightforwardly threatening to arrest and jail women unless they let him rape them.
