A Fort Wayne police officer unleashed his dog on some supposed crime suspect (probably a non-crime like drugs, of course) and instead of the dog attacking the supposed criminal, it went and attacked a two year old boy, allegedly leaving the boy suffering with "permanent scarring and disfigurement."

The Journal Gazette reports:
FORT WAYNE – A woman is suing the city of Fort Wayne for negligence, alleging a police dog attacked her child two years ago.

The lawsuit said a city police officer failed to control his dog during the pursuit of a suspect April 2, 2009, and the dog attacked a 2-year-old boy without provocation.
More "protecting and serving" at work.
