Iran completes enrichment process

Director of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization says Tehran has completed the enrichment process and can produce its own nuclear fuel.

Gholam-Reza Aqazadeh said the pellets applicable in the 40-megawatt Arak heavy water research reactor meet international standards.

He added that the fuel manufacturing plant would be ready by September 2008 to provide fuel for the Arak research reactor.

Aqazadeh dismissed reports indicating a slow down in Iran's uranium enrichment program in Natanz saying that there had been no change or reconsideration in plans and that they were going ahead according to schedule.

He described Iran's negotiations with the IAEA as 'successful' adding that the western powers were trying to mar the outcome by launching psychological warfare against the Islamic Republic.

Aqazadeh criticized the western approach toward Tehran's peaceful nuclear program saying that such obstructions had stalled the process of Iran's nuclear activities and called on the West to provide justifiable reasons for their attitude.

The recent International Atomic Energy Agency report said Tehran had been truthful about key aspects of its nuclear activity, thereby setting back US efforts to impose new sanctions on the country.
