MPAA: Cartelization, Not Creativity
posted 06/02/2011, 11:56 PM (S.M. Oliva) [Category: Commentary]
The Copyright Cartel -- aka the Motion Picture Association of America -- was back before Congress yesterday demanding more subsidies for Hollywood’s business model. Michael O’Leary, the MPAA’s head lobbyist, demanded the House Judiciary Committee expand the definition of “felony” copyright infringement to include streaming of content over the Internet (as opposed to mere downloading, which is already classified as a felony). O’Leary repeatedly emphasized the need for more copyright subsidies... (more) |
After the Dollar: What Comes Next?
posted 06/02/2011, 11:56 PM (Peter Schiff) [Category: Economy] THE DOLLAR'S TERRIBLE FATE

Hornberger) [Category: Commentary] "As a soldier, separated as of April of this year, who served two tours in Afghanistan, I agree and appreciate your open letter. I am a member of the Oathkeepers, have been since close to their inception. Many of my fellow soldiers are beginning to open their eyes and understand everything you mentioned in this article. If only we had more power to make changes. Just before the memorial weekend, I got the news that the sister unit that replaced our unit in Afghanistan lost six people in an IED. ... (more) |
Documents show FCC coordinated 'Net Neutrality' effort with outside group
posted 06/02/2011, 11:54 PM (Washington Examiner) [Category: Politics/Corruption] Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said the documents released by his organization suggest "nothing less than the Obama administration's attempt to stage a government takeover of the Internet under the guise of Net Neutrality. So it should come as no surprise that Free Press, the hard-left organization with socialist ties, is improperly driving the so-called Net Neutrality agenda from inside the Obama administration."
Fitton added that "the FCC is supposed to be an independent ag... (more) |
