Prosecutor: Jussie Smollett Misled Police to 'Believe That His Attackers Were White'

Jussie Smollett "misled police and the public to believe that his attackers were white," Assistant State's Attorney Risa Lanier said on Thursday.



"The Osundairo brothers are dark-skinned male blacks," Lanier said. "During the Good Morning America interview, Smollett stated: 'And it feels like if I had said I was a Muslim or a Mexican or someone black I feel like the doubters would have supported me much more a lot more.'"

"These statements by Smollett further mislead the police and the public to believe his attackers were white," Lanier said.

TMZ reported Thursday:
And, there's this ... you'll recall Smollett's camp told TMZ the day of the attack, he believed his attackers were white. Cops say he also told them, "he could see that the area around this person's eyes was white-skinned."
