President Trump's former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski told the TODAY show on Friday that former FBI Director James Comey is "part of the deep state" and is "everything that's wrong in Washington."

"What we've seen from Jim Comey is his goal is to manipulate the media, manipulate the press," Lewandowski said. "He is part of the deep state. He's everything that's wrong in Washington."

From The Hill:
Comey testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee that the FBI had been confident that Attorney General Jeff Sessions would recuse himself from the Justice Department's investigation into Russian election meddling before he had done so.

Comey said that his bureau was "aware of facts" that "would make his continued engagement in a Russia-related investigation problematic." Sessions eventually recused himself on March 2 amid revelations that he had failed to disclose meetings with Russia's ambassador while he was a campaign surrogate for Trump.

Lewandowski said on Friday that Comey was "probably the one who leaked the story" to the press in the first place in an effort pressure Sessions to back away from the Russia probe.
Sounds correct.

Comey admitted he leaked his memos to The New York Times to "prompt the appointment of a special counsel."

He succeeded.
