Kathy Griffin Defends Trump Beheading Photo As 'Art'

Resistance leader, CNN New Year's Eve host and face-moccasin-saleswoman Kathy Griffin defended her gory photoshoot Tuesday afternoon by insisting it was an "expression of art."

Here's what she told leftist blogger Yashar Ali:

3. She said they were putting together a Trump mask and that led her to think of Trump's infamous statement early on in the primary.

5. She also said she does not condone any violence, that provocative art should remain just that: art. She does not want life to imitate art

Trump's 2 year old comments about Megyn Kelly just got to her all the sudden.

Half an hour later, she posted the same to her own Twitter:

The supposed Megyn Kelly backstory was not noted by photographer Tyler Shields in an interview with Buzzfeed from earlier in the day:

"Trump is the social media president," photographer Tyler Shields told BuzzFeed News in his first interview since the controversy broke. "He is the most polarizing president we've ever had. With any type of person like that, art is going to be made about them."

"I like to make things and let people make up their own minds about it, but I understand with this that some people will praise it and some people will absolutely hate it," he said.

...He said the pair brainstormed several ideas for their photo shoot, after Griffin, whom he described as a friend, suggested she model for him again.

"I said, 'OK, how crazy do you want to get?'" Shields recalled. "And she was like, 'I'm ready and willing to push any or all boundaries. I'm down to get political, to get naked, to do whatever.'"
