00:04 The imam from Verviers who is risking
00:08 deportation was arrested with his wife and his son.
00:12 His son who was videotaped, as you might remember, while making death threats towards Christians.
00:17 The young man, who will appear before the juvenile court,
00:21 was released on bail; he’s trying to minimise the facts,
00:24 and this morning he talked to one of our teams: Mathieu Langer with David Buhler.
00:28 “Arrested yesterday by the federal police,
00:32 around 5pm, the imam Sheikh Alami, his wife
00:38 and their son released around 2am. We met his son today.
00:42 He regrets the video he recorded on the streets of Verviers, calling for
00:46 the murder of Christians, and he thinks he was misunderstood.
00:50 “In hindsight I regret this video. I misspoke. I meant the regime of Bashar, and the Christians;
00:54 those words in Arabic are very similar.
00:58 I used the wrong words, All I was saying I learned by heart. There were words that I understood,
01:02 and others that I didn’t. The police took his cell phone in order to find proof of his contacts
01:10 with jihadists. He does confirm that a couple of months ago,
01:14 he was receiving and sending messages to Syria:
01:18 “I was saying, hi, how are you? Still alive? mdr [French: died of laughter], lol.”
01:22 They were sending us pictures, videos; it was really disgusting to watch.
01:26 There were corpses, heads on pikes… they asked me many times to join,
01:30 but I was too scared to contradict my family… they were saying: ‘What, you’re not coming?’
01:34 I answered, ‘God willing.’”
This is "taqiyya" in action, the doctrine which permits Muslims to lie to non-believers in order to conquer them.
01:38 His parents, who are still being interrogated, should be back home in the afternoon.
01:41 His father is the imam, the radical preacher, who was under order of deportation,
01:45 but the procedure was never finished, because of his double nationality:
01:48 Moroccan and Dutch. This time the mayor of Verviers is hoping
01:54 to be able to find a solution very soon. “All I am hoping for
01:58 is that this will be taken — no doubt — extremely seriously.
02:02 Because we saw in Turkey only yesterday youngsters 14 years of age who perpetrate the attacks;
02:06 so we can see, that there’s apparently no lower age limit for terror
02:10 and for the horror, and for perpetrating these types of acts. And for me, as I already said:
02:13 those people are time bombs.” Arriving yesterday from his holidays in Morocco, the son of the imam
02:16 will be re-interrogated tomorrow by the Ličge police.
02:22 Still underage, he should be appearing before a juvenile court in the next couple of days.
They really should just let them stay and wait until they blow something up, because "freedom," "democracy," "free speech," "our values" and all that.
