A Jewish school teacher who claimed to have been the victim of a knife attack by "ISIS terrorists" shortly after the Paris attacks was found to have stabbed himself and fabricated the entire story.

57-year-old Tzion Saadon's tale was previously cited by French President Francois Hollande as "a 'barbarous' example of rising anti-Semitism," the Evening Standard reports.

This is just the latest incident in an exploding trend of phony "hate crime hoaxes."

From the Evening Standard:
A Jewish teacher who fabricated a knife attack by Islamic State terrorists in France was today given a six month suspended prison sentence.

Tzion Saadon, 57, told his lies in November, a few days after 130 people were murdered during a single night of violence in Paris.

Inviting journalists to his home in Marseille, he said three men had assaulted him as they shouted Islamic slogans, and Death to Jews.
Showing of his ‘stomach wounds’, Saadon even said one of his attackers wore ‘an Isis T-shirt’, and displayed pictures of Mohamed Merah, the Al-Qaeda gunmen who murdered both Jews and Muslims in 2012.

But there were no independent witnesses to Saadon’s ordeal, and forensic examinations later proved he had caused the ‘knife slashes’ himself.

Saadon kept up his story throughout his trial in Marseille, but prosecutor Andre Ribes said: “The truth is he wasn’t assaulted in the way he says.”
A Breitbart investigation earlier this month found there's been over 100 high profile hate crime hoaxes in the last decade, such hoaxes have undergone a "massive surge" since 2011 with 20 cases occurring just last year.
