In what may be a first, a 16-year-old from Georgia was not only arrested but also charged for issuing death threats targeting Donald Trump.

WTVM reports:
According to the Troup County Sheriff's Office, their investigators and U.S. Secret Service agents have arrested and charged a 16-year-old, after the teen issued death threats against Trump on social media.

Investigators discovered the death threats and immediately notified the FBI and Secret Service task force. Investigators and agents arrested the teen at home on Monday.

The teen's name and the content of the social media threats have not been released. The teen was charged, and the Troup County Sheriff's Office is not releasing any more information at this time.
While an Egyptian aviation student studying in the U.S. was arrested and deported last month for issuing death threats against Donald Trump on social media, prosecutors declined to charge him. This is the first case I've seen where someone has actually been charged.

Many of the death threats to Donald Trump on social media are chronicled on the pro-free speech reddit-style website Voat.co/v/TrumpThreats. Just yesterday over 20 threats were archived and shared, most of which are reported by community members to the FBI.

The vast majority of such threats are deemed free speech and usually amount to nothing more than a visit from the FBI. For this teen to actually be charged may indicate the threats were not simply said in vain.
