NEW YORK -- New York City police say an officer shot her boyfriend, turned the gun on her 1-year-old son and then shot herself in an apparent double murder-suicide.
The three bodies were discovered Monday in the Flatlands section of Brooklyn.
Authorities say the officer's 19-year-old son escaped through a window and called 911. The teenager was not hurt.
The officer was identified by family and property records as 43-year-old Rosette Samuel. She joined the force in 2000. Police say nothing in her records indicated she was troubled.
Chief police spokesman Paul Browne says the boyfriend was found in the entry of the first-floor apartment. The bodies of the officer and her baby boy were found on the bed.
The name of the baby and the boyfriend were not immediately released.
