Police seeking Dorner opened fire in a second case of mistaken identity

Torrance police say the man was driving a pickup resembling the fugitive's. The incident happened just after the LAPD fired on women delivering newspapers nearby.
By Robert Faturechi and Matt Stevens, Los Angeles Times

David Perdue was on his way to sneak in some surfing before work Thursday morning when police flagged him down. They asked who he was and where he was headed, then sent him on his way.

Seconds later, Perdue's attorney said, a Torrance police cruiser slammed into his pickup and officers opened fire; none of the bullets struck Perdue.

His pickup, police later explained, matched the description of the one belonging to Christopher Jordan Dorner the ex-cop who has evaded authorities after allegedly killing three and wounding two more. But the pickups were different makes and colors. And Perdue looks nothing like Dorner: He's several inches shorter and about a hundred pounds lighter. And Perdue is white; Dorner is black.

"I don't want to use the word buffoonery but it really is unbridled police lawlessness," said Robert Sheahen, Perdue's attorney. "These people need training and they need restraint."

I'm no cop so, I really can't tell them how to do their jobs, as far as "catching one of their own." I just remember, when this happened, it didn't seem at all like something a cop would do. Perhaps it's an insane person or, one their friends. I just know, I have mind-splitting headache, and I really don't care if these cops want to shoot one another into oblivion but their families do, and, regardless of what I think of cops, the people who love them matter more.

108205 I'm not sure why a friend of mine sent me this news report and comment page, especially since I don't have enough information
about the case.
I do believe, however, some people, many people overreact when it
comes to crime solving and many other violations against society.
I'm imagining they all have good intentions. Good intentions, however, have lead us down paths of mass distruction, suicides,
unmindfulness in arenas that need to have sensitity in wakes of
seemingly uncontrolable hatred and fearless death interactions.
Yes, families, friends, cultures, and much more are left behind to morne, to gather their thoughts, feelings, and desires.
The bacic need, however, seems to understand more fully about
gun violence.
What I feel strongly about is sensitivity traings in the law enforcement departments. I want the men and women to THINK and respond far more fully that an armed person with a gun.
Adrenalin and hasty projections create tragedies. This is just an off the cuff statement. So be it.

17444 Law enforcement is no different from a crazy citizen with a gun. The only difference is police are given the blessing of the state to kill and commit terror. Sensitivity training Please!
