752 Iceland and Argentina have seen their economies totally collapse. New Zealand had a major earthquake, like a 6.7 on the Richter scale. Costa Rica's political leadership is a little suspect. Uruguay is landlocked. I'm not so sure about this list.

752 Whoop! Uruguay is not landlocked. According to Wikipedia it is the most developed country in South America and:

"Uruguay's only land border is with Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, to the north. To the west lies the Uruguay River, to the southwest lies the estuary of Río de la Plata, with Argentina only a short commute across the banks of either of these bodies of water, while to the southeast lies the southern part of the Atlantic Ocean."

Okay. So maybe Uruguay is okay.

On the flip side because their econs collapsed the people tend to hate the government and have learned how to live without them.

W/ NZ it's def nice but quite pricey.

Costa Rica actually seems really nice, unfortunately the US just invaded them with 8000 troops in order to "fight drugs." Sounds a bit like a military occupation.

Tons of US citizens live in CR tho and it's got some really nice neighborhoods, great beaches too.

Argentina is supposedly one of the cheapest places in the world, Doug Casey loves it and hes built some resort out there and I've seen before he owns something like 20,000 cows.

Uruguay might be nice I don't know, they have no income tax on the plus side, though recently they're moving to add one, at least for non-foreigners, I read one guy's review on one of these escape artist type sites and he said it was horrible so who knows.

The question of where to move is a big one for sure, I think Thailand should be added to the list, Marc Faber lives in Chiang Mai, Thailand seems almost like a cheaper version of Hawaii.

Personally I wonder if Florida wouldn't be nice, I don't know how it would deal in a situation of collapse, I would think they've been through hell w/ all the hurricanes they've lived through, and might be particularly prepared for a soviet style implosion. No state income tax is obviously a huge plus.
