A leading skeptic of global warming is discrediting an investigation that he says has largely vindicated the scientists involved in the "ClimateGate" scandal. "[It's] a shameful sham of a report," says Climate Depot executive editor Marc Morano. "This is the global-warming establishment exonerating the global-warming establishment." The report centered on the leak of hundreds of e-mails from the University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit. The inquiry, led by former U.K. civil servant Muir Russell, cleared climate scientists of accusations that they exaggerated the threat of climate change. Morano says that result was predictable. "This [investigation] was put together by the very university that was called into question that had the Climatic Research Unit -- the heart of the ClimateGate scientists," he explains. "And they're actually in the report urging for a campaign to win the hearts and minds and restore confidence in global-warming science. The entire report is essentially premised on the idea that we have to clear their reputation." Morano adds that he is shocked Phil Jones has been reinstated as the director of the Climatic Research Unit at the University. "This would be akin to putting Bernie Madoff back in charge of financial institutions," he reacts. According to Morano, global-warming alarmists will never have credibility with people like Phil Jones in power. |
