Bush's Lies Should Never Be Forgotten

In an article I wrote for Memorial Day in 2006 titled “Dying for a Lie,” I made reference and linked to a 212-page thesis for a bachelor's degree in political science at the University of Illinois written by Devon M. Largio in 2004. It was titled “Uncovering the Rationales for the War on Iraq: The Words of the Bush Administration, Congress, and the Media from September 12, 2001 to October 11, 2002.” This important work documented twenty-seven rationales given for the war by the Bush administration, war hawks in Congress, and the media between the 9/11 attacks and the October 2002 congressional resolution to use force in Iraq.

Unfortunately, the links I provided to this thesis are no longer valid. I found this out when I tried to find the thesis again online because I had not printed out a copy and in response to e-mails from two readers.

Thanks to Devon Largio’s thesis advisor, Scott Althaus, the thesis is now posted on his website. There are now links to the abstract, executive summary, and the complete thesis. This thesis is an important work that, like Bush’s lies, should not be forgotten.
